The as-yet-untitled 25th film in the franchise is due for release in February 2020, and will go into production in the coming months. While official details such as premise, plot and cast are not yet unknown, speculation is raging that Felix Leiter will be involved in some way. The character has form with Craig: he appeared in 2006’s Casino Royale, and in 2008’s Quantum of Solace.

Leiter is an operative for the CIA and a close friend of James Bond’s, and has been played by seven different actors in the main franchise.

Jeffrey Wright has been playing him in the Daniel Craig era.

Posting to Reddit, in a post that has been 99% Upvoted, user Jackalope_Thomas01 wrote: “If this is Daniel Craig’s last Bond film, then I think we deserve to see the two partner up together on a mission.

“We’ve only seen him a few times in Craig’s rendition, and he was mentioned in SPECTRE, but I would love to see Jeffrey Wright portray him one last time.”

Another user speculated: “Wright posted a still from Quantum of Solace on Twitter last year. He’s been cagey, but he seems likely to return.

Someone else pointed out: “It would be nice. Hard to say how important he’s considered to be.

“Leiter was left out for six films in a row in the [Roger] Moore years and didn’t appear at all with [Pierce] Brosnan.

“Wright will probably be more expensive than the last time he signed up.”

Wright has a busy slate right now: he’s starring in Westworld and his upcoming films include The French Dispatch, The Laundromat and Honest Thief.

He’s also recently had appearances in Game Night, the Hunger Games franchise and Cadillac Records.

Yesterday it was claimed that Bond 25 will go into production in April, not March as previously announced.

But whatever the case, its release date remains unchanged at February 14, 2020.
