Filming is currently underway on Star Wars Episode IX, a film that is not only the end of the sequel trilogy, but the entire Skywalker saga.
However fans have a long wait ahead of them, as the sequel to The Last Jedi isn’t released until Christmas 2019.
In the meantime fans have to make do with speculation, leaks and titbits of official news as they’re released.
But just what about the title?
Well Luke Skywalker star Hamill has already teased the title, without really giving anything away.
Posting on Twitter yesterday, the 66-year-old wrote: “THE (to be continued…).”
So at the very least fans know the film follows its predecessors The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, by beginning with a grammatical article that also happens to be the most commonly used word in the English language.
So when exactly can we know the full title for Star Wars 9?
Well The Last Jedi wasn’t announced until January 2017, just under year before the film was released.
No doubt this is will be a similar case for Episode IX.
Presumably Hamill, who returns for the sequel, has now been told the full title on set and couldn’t help but reveal the first word.
The actor’s character Luke became one with the Force at the end of The Last Jedi.
