Will This Be The End of Ticket Price Subsidy in China?

China’s film authorities will introduce new regulations on October 1, banning ticket price subsidy through online ticketing platforms, according to unnamed online sources. This news has stirred up heated discussions about the possible influences of the new rules. While the new rules prohibit ticket subsidy campaigns through online ticketing platforms, movie theaters are still allowed to offer discounts and coupons at the box office or through their own apps. Some industry insiders believe the new regulations will reduce ticketing platforms’ monopolistic power and give some power back to producers and exhibitors. ‘Wolf Warrior 2′ To Be Re-released in Chinese Theaters 

Recently, rumors circulated on the internet that last year’s box office smash hit Wolf Warrior 2 would be re-released in September. It turned out that the news is partially true. According to a document from Dadi Cinemas, the film will only be re-released at Dadi’s own theaters between September 19 and October 19. ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ Crosses RMB 1 Billion in China

With a total box office earnings of RMB 20.2 Million on Wednesday, Mission: Impossible – Fallout has earned over RMB 1 billion ($146 million) in China so far. The daily gross is 11.2% less than that of last week, but the decline is not significant. Surpassing the box office of Rampage, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is now the 4th highest-grossing foreign films released in China in 2018.
