Universal announced in the summer of 2015 that a fifth Jurrasic World film would be hitting cinemas in the summer of 2018,
That fifth movie is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which will be released in cinemas on June 6, 2018 – a week ahead of the USA.
The Jurassic World sequel is the fifth in the entire Jurassic Park universe but is described as the second of the new Jurassic World trilogy.
A third Jurassic World film is tentatively scheduled for June 11, 2021 and will also star Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who are reprising their roles for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom picks up three years after dinosaurs took over the park and have been roaming freely since the end of Jurassic World.
However, a volcano eruption threatens their existence on the Isla Nubular.
Claire Dearing, the former operations manager for the Jurassic World theme park, organises the Dinosaur Protection Group in order to evacuate the surviving dinosaurs.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom premiered at the WiZink Center in Madrid, Spain on May 21, 2018.
Movie website Fandango conducted a survey in December 2017 and discovered Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018, alongside Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther.
Director Colin Trevorrow stated in a June 2015 interview that the sequel would take a different route to its predecessor.
He said: “I really like the idea that this group of geneticists aren’t the only people who can make a dinosaur.
“When you think of the differences between Apple and PC—the minute something goes open-source, there are all kinds of entities and interests that may be able to utilise that technology.”
BoxOffice Magazine projected the film will gross between £97.8 to 112.8 million ($130 to 150m) in its opening weekend in the United States and Canada.
The Jurassic World movie made a total of £244.5 to 285.8 million ($325 to 380 million) for its final gross.
All of this conjecture is yet to be proven, and critics, fans, and Box Office calculators will have to wait till mid-June 2018 for their answers.
The fifth Jurassic movie is rumoured to runs 2 hours, 10 minutes.
