The Greatest Showman shock: Hit musical just did something INCREDIBLE

The musical, starring Hugh Jackman and Keala Settle, has now been on release in this country for eleven weeks.

But whilst the vast majority of other movies would have been long gone by this stage, Showman has actually INCREASED its haul – rising 26% week-on-week.

It was enough to boost it to second place at the British box office over the weekend, making another enormous £1.56 million.

The only film to perform better between Friday and yesterday was Black Panther, which accrued another £2.94 million.

The Greatest Showman has now racked up a hefty £37.3 million in the UK alone, and is only a few million shy of Les Miserables, which ended its run in the UK with £40.8 million.

Suffice to say, Showman will comfortably surpass it by the time it finally exits cinemas.

In fact the musical already has a date for its DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download release: May 14.

At this rate, it won’t have been out of cinemas for very long at all by the time it hits shelves.

Worldwide, the film is thought to have now made just shy of $400 million globally – not bad at all for something that debuted in December to very lukewarm reviews.

It only has a 55% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but its CinemaScore grade amongst audiences is A – proving it is word of mouth that’s keeping it afloat.

The Greatest Showman is out now.
